no its not child abuse but I do think that its silly of her to make u wear this thing. Even if she thinks her mom was right, at the time she hated it so she should think about how she felt when she had one on.I think ur mom and grandma needs some counseling.

I have one, and I love it. Pricey, but worth every penny. They are VERY TIGHT, and double layered, so that the inner layer is like a girdle, and the outer layer does not look tight. If you are between sizes, I would go by how much help you really need. I bought a size smaller myself, and although it is a bit difficult to struggle into, the results are terrific!
